What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that’s administered via a series of injections.

 At Williamsburg Dental Arts, Dr. Rubinov uses BOTOX to treat a variety of issues, including:

• Crow’s feet
• Fine lines
• Frown lines
• Necklines
• Lines under the eyes
• Facial wrinkles
• Migraines
• Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
• Lip wrinkles

Dr. Rubinov also uses BOTOX for preventive wrinkle treatments. BOTOX causes the muscles in your face and forehead to relax. Ultimately, this minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other cosmetic imperfections. 

Am I a good candidate for BOTOX?

To determine if you’re a good candidate for BOTOX, make an appointment with Dr. Rubinov at Williamsburg Dental Arts. During your initial consultation, Dr. Rubinov reviews your medical history, asks you about your symptoms and/or goals for treatment, and takes a series of digital photographs to better observe the lines and contours of your face.

During your appointment, you should also let Dr. Rubinov know about any prescription medications or supplements you’re taking. Additionally, you’re encouraged to ask questions and bring up any concerns you might have.

After gathering this information, Dr. Rubinov makes recommendations for your individual situation. This might mean one or two injections to treat pain caused by TMJ, or a series of injections, spread out over several months, to eradicate wrinkles and fine lines.

How long does treatment with BOTOX take?

The length of your BOTOX treatment depends on your aesthetic goals and the amount of BOTOX necessary. During your initial consultation, Dr. Rubinov walks you through the entire process.  

Usually, BOTOX appointments take about an hour. Following a comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Rubinov will go over the exact length of the procedure with you.

Does BOTOX provide permanent results?

The wrinkle-defying results of BOTOX aren’t permanent, but they usually last for 3-4 months at a time. To maintain your results, Dr. Rubinov recommends scheduling regular checkups and preventive maintenance. 

Over time, your facial muscles contract less and less. Eventually, you might only need injections two times a year, once every six months.
